Public Opinion: Renewable Energy Sources

sources of energy

Renewable energy sources

There are many sources of renewable energy available, including water, wind and biomass. These sources of renewable energy are all free and unlimited. Renewable energy is vital in combating climate changes because fossil fuels contribute a lot to the greenhouse gases that cause global warming.

Biomass is a type of renewable energy. It converts organic materials, such as wood, grasses and other plants, into electricity. This process is cleaner and more efficient that burning fossil fuels. In addition, biomass produces power at lower cost than fossil fuels. Because biomass does not emit carbon dioxide, it is a common source renewable energy. This can contribute to global warming as well as climate change.

Renewable energy sources can have an environmental impact

The benefits of using renewable energy sources are numerous for both the planet and our environment. The huge carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel-dominated electricity generation are a result of large amounts of fossil fuel-derived electricity. The United States' electricity generation account for 40% of its energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. In China, electricity generation contributed to just over two billion tons of CO2 emissions in 2007. In addition to CO2, fossil-fuel combustion also produces other air pollutants such as NOx and sulfur dioxide. These pollutants contribute to air pollution and are highly toxic. They also exert pressure on water resources.

Renewable energy sources reduce pollution and emissions, but they also boost the economy, create employment, and help to alleviate poverty. By 2050, renewable energy will produce half of the world's energy needs. This is a large number and more than 140 times greater than the world's current energy consumption. Germany's renewable energy industry is an example of a success story, with employment increases of up to 55% since 2004.

Public opinion regarding renewable energy sources

New research shows that Americans are generally more supportive of renewable energy sources than they are fossil fuels. There are differences in opinions depending on party. Democrats are generally supportive of government regulation to support renewable energy development. Republicans prefer the free marketplace to drive the transition. No matter what party you are, the majority of people support renewable energy to offset fossil fuels.

The survey found that 72 per cent of respondents in the country viewed renewable energy as favorable, while 78 per cent considered them to be unfavorable. The number of respondents who do not know much about renewable energy sources was significantly higher than for oil and nuclear.
